Dual PD The distance from the middle of your head, to each of the centres of your pupil.Single PD The total distance between your two pupil centres. ![]() When you’re ordering a new pair of glasses, some eyewear retailers will let you input your PD measurement in one of two ways: single PD and dual PD. What’s the difference between single PD and dual PD? Thankfully, it’s easy enough to measure your own PD from the comfort of home. Some opticians may even deliberately leave this information out, since they know that, by giving you your PD measurement, you’re able to go ahead and order glasses from another supplier. Unfortunately though, this isn’t always the case. In a perfect world, your PD measurement is included on the eyeglass prescription you receive from your eye doctor, or optician. PD is measured in millimetres (mm) and is an important measurement that all eyewear manufacturers need in order to produce a pair of prescription lenses that can correct your vision properly. PD stands for pupillary distance, and simply refers to the distance between the centres of each of your pupils. Repeat 3 times for accuracy and use the average for your final PD measurement.
